Prayer for the Care of Creation
God of mercy, in the beginning you created the universe and have affirmed for us ,through the creation story in Genesis, that “it was good.” You entrusted that creation to humankind and we have not always been good stewards to all that you placed in our care. We ask for your guidance as we recommit ourselves to be good stewards.
We acknowledge our faults and ask forgiveness of the sins we have committed in our selfishness that has harmed all of creation and that has put an untold burden on the poor. Help us to open our eyes and our hearts to carry out your mission and accept the challenge to be better caretakers of the environment and all creation. Amen
