In July of 2011, the Alliance for Catholic Education launched the School Pastors’ Institute (SPI), a leadership formation symposium for pastors of a Catholic school. Developed at the request of (arch)bishops around the country, the SPI is designed to respond to the unique and increasingly complex challenges and opportunities related to serving as a pastor of a parish school. Since 2011, the SPI has brought together over 830 pastors from 134 different (arch)dioceses to look more closely at the crucial role that the pastor plays in the parish school, as well as to foster best practices and collaboration among those engaged in this vital ministry.
Program Overview
This four-day, three-night conference on the campus of Notre Dame features a keynote address from a bishop, followed by a series of workshops focusing on a number of topics related to transformative school leadership, including Catholic Culture and Identity, Financial Management and Advancement, Formation of Personnel, Welcoming of Latino Children and Families, and the Pastor-Principal Relationship.
All pastors attend the majority of sessions together, but there are specialized afternoon sessions for (1) Pastors of schools for the first time, (2) International priests who are new to the U.S. Catholic school system, (3) Pastors of schools with alternative governance models, and (4) associate pastors.
This summer, there will be two opportunities to attend the SPI:
Monday, June 25 — Thursday, June 28, 2018
Monday, July 16 — Thursday, July 19, 2018
Both conferences will begin with dinner at 5:30 pm on the first day and end at 11:30 am on the final day.
All registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is open until all slots (100) have been filled for each session.
Cost
The registration fee for the SPI is $325, which includes accommodations, meals, and materials. Accommodations are available for those who wish to arrive a day early for an additional $60.
Please note, inability to pay the full registration fee should not be a reason to not attend. For more information, please contact Fr. Joe Corpora, C.S.C. ([email protected]).
