ESSA Implementation:
The consultation process for receipt of benefits for students, teachers and other educational personnel for the 2017-2018 school year should be underway.
Please note that there is money in the budget for services for Title II-A (Professional Development) and Title IV-A (21st Century Schools) for the coming year. That funding was appropriated in the budget passed in May. While the dollars are less than they could be by law, they are significant: Title II-A: $2.5 billion and Title IV-A: $400 million. Although the President’s budget proposal for the 2018-2019 academic year requests zero funding for these programs, Congress makes the appropriations and they are not likely to be eliminated.
If you have not yet begun the consultation process with your LEA, please request an appointment ASAP so that services may begin at the start of the school year.
Much has changed under the new law so be sure to familiarize yourself with the parts of the law that pertain to equitable services for private school students and teachers and bring the documents to the consultation meetings. Copies of the documentation can be found on the NCEA’s public policy website
NCEA Annual Finance Survey: Don’t be Left Out!
Each school principal was sent an e-mail invitation to participate in the annual financial survey that is conducted for NCEA by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA). As school winds down and there is some quiet time, please complete this very important survey so that we have high quality information and resources that are helpful in strategic planning for operational vitality for all schools. Schools that complete the survey will receive a complimentary copy of the results.

NCEA Annual Finance Survey
Each school principal was sent an e-mail invitation to participate in the annual financial survey that is conducted for NCEA by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA). It is essential for obtaining high quality information that we have all schools respond. Please do all you can to encourage principals to take time at the close of schools to submit the survey. The results provide resources that are helpful in strategic planning for operational vitality for all schools and we need data that reflect the wide diversity of schools. Schools that complete the survey will receive a complimentary copy of the results.
