Holy Ghost Parish and School Offer Thanks and Blessings to First Responders

A Mass celebrating “first responders” took place on Sept. 14 at Holy Ghost Parish in Wood Dale. Eleven police officers came to the church that day  (The firefighters had a training  exercise and were not able to attend.) Students from the Holy Ghost School gave the officers a thank you card where an early childhood student – dressed as a police officer – then handed each officer a Holy card. The student said he was “excited and a little nervous” to do this and that he “wants to be a policeman when he grows up.” The entire congregation along with Father John Hornicak, the pastor of the parish, offered a blessing to the first responders.
