During the summer of 2014, I had the distinct privilege of participating in the Eileen Ludwig Greenland National Bearing Witness Summer Institute, an experience that has forever changed my teaching. When I applied to the program, I was just finishing my first year as a theology teacher at Divine Child, a Catholic coeducational high school in Dearborn, Michigan, and I was looking for an opportunity to learn about the historic relationship between the Jewish people and the Catholic community and improve my teaching. What I gained from the program was a greater gift than I could have ever imagined.
Bearing Witness provided me with an invitation to look at the world differently and to enter into the world of Jewish-Catholic relations with new eyes.
